Yes, we can go over these things. As soon as we get some other foundational stuff in place, we can build out more explanation materials. In the meantime, the idea was that these buttons are somewhat Self explanatory, if you click them. If they were not there, those features would be harder to reach. The Fellowship for Intentional Community nurtures connections and cooperation among communitarians and their friends. We provide publications, referrals, support services, and sharing opportunities for a wide range of intentional communities, cohousing groups, ecovillages, community networks, support organizations, and people seeking a home in community.

Intentional Communities have for many centuries been places where idealists have come together to create a better world. Although there are thousands of intentional communities in existence today, and many others in the formative stages, most people are unaware of them or the roots from which they spring. The Fellowship is increasing public awareness of existing and newly forming communities. We offer information and referrals for those who are actively seeking, or simply curious about, alternate lifestyles for themselves and their families.

Communities come in all shapes and sizes, and share many similar challenges -- such as defining membership, succeeding financially, distributing resources, making decisions, raising children, dividing work equitably, and choosing a standard of living. Many wrestle with questions about right livelihood, spiritual expression, land use, and the role of service in our lives. At the same time, there is limited awareness of what others are doing to meet these challenges -- and much to gain through sharing information and experiences with others exploring similar paths. The Fellowship documents the visions and experiences of life in community, and actively promotes dialogue and cooperation among communities.

Intentional communities are often aware of themselves as different from mainstream culture, and many choose to highlight these differences. Yet, virtually all communities share a common root value of cooperation. The Fellowship facilitates the extension of cooperation beyond membership boundaries and common values, understanding that differences can be a cause for celebration, and an occasion for enrichment and growth. The Fellowship is helping draw the circles of cooperation ever larger, and assisting with the personal stretching that this requires In that spirit, FIC membership is open to everyone.

Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year's TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.

The annual conferences in Long Beach and Oxford bring together the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

On TED.com, we make the best talks and performances from TED and partners available to the world, for free. More than 500 TEDTalks are now available, with more added each week. All of the talks feature closed captions in English, and many feature subtitles in various languages. These videos are released under a Creative Commons license, so they can be freely shared and reposted.

The TED Conference, held annually in Long Beach, is still the heart of TED. More than a thousand people now attend -- indeed, the event sells out a year in advance -- and the content has expanded to include science, business, the arts and the global issues facing our world. Over four days, 50 speakers each take an 18-minute slot, and there are many shorter pieces of content, including music, performance and comedy. There are no breakout groups. Everyone shares the same experience. It shouldn't work, but it does. It works because all of knowledge is connected. Every so often it makes sense to emerge from the trenches we dig for a living, and ascend to a 30,000-foot view, where we see, to our astonishment, an intricately interconnected whole.

TEDGlobal is TED's twin conference. It was held in Oxford, UK, in 2005, and then in Arusha, Tanzania, in 2007. TEDGlobal is now held annually in Oxford, starting July 2009. The themes of the global conference are slightly more international in nature, but the full TED format is maintained.

TEDActive features a live simulcast of the Long Beach conference, in fabulous Palm Springs, with an emphasis on connection, conversation and creation.

TEDIndia was held in November 2009 in Mysore, India, celebrating and exploring the beckoning future of South Asia.

The TED Prize is designed to leverage the TED Community's exceptional array of talent and resources. It is awarded annually to three exceptional individuals who each receive $100,000 and, much more important, the granting of "One Wish to Change the World." After several months of preparation, they unveil their wish at an award ceremony held during the TED Conference. These wishes have led to collaborative initiatives with far-reaching impact.

TEDTalks began as a simple attempt to share what happens at TED with the world. Under the moniker "ideas worth spreading," talks were released online. They rapidly attracted a global audience in the millions. Indeed, the reaction was so enthusiastic that the entire TED website has been reengineered around TEDTalks, with the goal of giving everyone on-demand access to the world's most inspiring voices.

The TED Open Translation Project brings TEDTalks beyond the English-speaking world by offering subtitles, interactive transcripts and the ability for any talk to be translated by volunteers worldwide. We launched the project with more than 250 translations, 50 languages and 100 volunteer translators. It's an ambitious project (generously supported by our sponsor Nokia) that radically enhances the accessibility of the talks -- for the hearing-impaired, for whose who speak English as a second language, for search engines (which can now index the full transcript of a talk), and of course for the vast audience of non-English speakers worldwide.

Today, TED is therefore best thought of as a global community. It's a community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who have just two things in common: they seek a deeper understanding of the world, and they hope to turn that understanding into a better future for us all.

Hospitals, Doctors sign up as members in Kosansh. They then have access to all the tools to publish their services, rates as well as announce news, events, etc to attract foreign patients. Patients can search on rates, accreditation, equipment purchase date, doctor ratings, hospital ratings, etc. which helps them in decision making for their overseas travel for medical needs.

Kosansh earns profits from membership revenue, advertisements as well as providing dedicated staffing to hospitals. It does not charge its patients any membership fees unless patients want to digitally store medical records under the patient vault. Kosansh concept is unique.

Patients can register on Kosansh for free. They create their own personal profile and can choose to remain anonymous on the site while discussing their medical condition in forums or with doctors. Patients can also ask questions in an open forum/communities under "Health Queries" where various doctors across the world, hospital doctors and other patients will provide answers to their queries. Community votes and rates the answers and doctors gain points both on participation as well as from ratings by patients. A very comprehensive algorithm is used to rate doctors and hospitals.

In a nutshell, Kosansh provides a platform for everyone seeking affordable international healthcare. This may or may not involve surgery. Patients can also have a dedicated remote doctor booked with whom they can discuss their family medical situation for second opinions.

Google Street View logs WiFi networks, Mac addresses

Google's roving Street View spycam may blur your face, but it's got your number. The Street View service is under fire in Germany for scanning private WLAN networks, and recording users' unique Mac (Media Access Control) addresses, as the car trundles along.

Germany's Federal Commissioner for Data Protection Peter Schaar says he's "horrified" by the discovery.

"I am appalled… I call upon Google to delete previously unlawfully collected personal data on the wireless network immediately and stop the rides for Street View," according to German broadcaster ARD.

David Byrne (born May 14, 1952) is a Scottish-born musician and artist best known as a founding member and principal songwriter of the American new wave band Talking Heads, which was active between 1975 and 1991. Since then, Byrne has released his own solo projects on record, and worked in a variety of media, including film, photography, opera, and Internet-based projects. He has received Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe awards for his achievements. As a member of Talking Heads, Byrne is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Although a resident of the United States since childhood, Byrne is a British citizen.

Peter Mel, born November 24, 1969 in Santa Cruz, California, is a professional surf boarder. Mel began his surfing life in Capitola, California before moving on to Santa Cruz. His father, John, who started the family business, Freeline Surf Design, the same year Pete was born, John made his boards over the years and gradually brought his son under his shaping wing. In the shadow of Steamer Lane locals Vince Collier, Kevin Reed and especially Richard Schmidt, Mel rose quickly through the line-up ranks with an unprecedented crop of young surfers. He idolized Schmidt for his casual demeanor on land and his bravery in larger surf. Like Schmidt, he would spend many winters in Hawaii, enjoying the less-restrictive conditions and developing his signature style, not to mention a taste for the big stuff.

Throughout the ’90s, Mel found moderate success on the domestic and ASP World Tour Qualifying Series, before finally finding his niche during California’s El Nino winter of 1997-98. At the age of 29, when most pros are hanging up their jerseys and looking hard for careers in the surfing industry, Mel was really just coming into his own.[1]

Known in Santa Cruz as the “Condor” for his extreme wingspan (A nickname Mel was less than fond of) , Pete was a shoo-in to claim the $50,000 Billabong XXL Big-Wave Challenge, for paddling into the winter’s biggest wave, but this was not to be and pete ended up just short of the honor that year.[2] Mel finished eighth in the 1998 Surfer Magazine Reader’s Poll Awards[citation needed] and established himself as California’s premier big-wave rider. Today, Mel continues to shape and help run Freeline Surf Shop, the family business in Santa Cruz. As a shaper, he sees new materials as being the wave of the future. “With shaping,” he admits, “there’s not much more you can do, but the materials are going to get far lighter and stronger.” He has also acknowledges the limitations of paddle-in surfing and jumped directly to the forefront of the tow-in frenzy during the end of the 90's. On October 28, 1999, at Mavericks, he was towed into the biggest wave ever ridden on the West Coast. He still chases surf around the world, but chooses to spend most of his time focusing on his family and riding Mavericks[3], just an hour up the road. Mel lives on the East Side of Santa Cruz in the Pleasure Point area and is currently married with two children.
