MusikPitch seems to have found a niche in the songwriting business by providing a platform where songwriters and composers compete to win jingle contests. MusikPitch allows any company looking for jingle songs or branding music to run a contest. The process of launching a contest is simple. Companies describe the type of jingle they need, decide on the prize amount, then sit back and listen as the songs are sent in from songwriters around the world. A recent success story was from a Nashville based restaurant called The Local Taco.

All those hundreds of TV channels may lead you that there’s a true diversity and variety in today’s television … but you’d be wrong. A handful of large companies control what you see, hear, and read every day.
In August 2006 I wrote about an amazing video in the post Amazing video of the power of chi. This video is an excerpt from a documentary movie called “Ring of Fire”, shot in Indonesia. During the filming, one of the crew members got some problem with his eyes and was treated by a local healer using acupuncture, but different than regularly used. Then, the healer demonstrated his powers on the crew by “shocking” them with what felt like electrical charges from his hands or abdomen. The most shocking part of the footage is where he puts a newspaper on fire, allegedly only using his Chi energy. It is very famous footage and you can see it below:

Enya was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Co. Donegal, Ireland. Enya studied classical music at college and under private tuition. On leaving college she was asked by Producer Nicky Ryan to join her siblings in their family band. She did so for a short time, but found it too restrictive musically, and so in 1982 she joined Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan in a creative and business partnership. Enya's first commission was to write a score for Sir David Puttnam for his film "The Frog Prince". Then, the triumvirate secured the soundtrack to the BBC documentary series 'The Celts'. Enya was then signed up by Warner Music and all three by EMI Music Publishing. The first album of this contract was "Watermark" with the hit single "Orinoco Flow". This was followed by "Shepherd Moons" "The memory of trees" "Paint the sky with Stars" "A day without rain" which produced the single 'Only Time' "Amarantine" and for "Lord of the Rings; the fellowship of the Ring" the songs "Aniron" and "May it be". Enya, Nicky and Roma were nominated for a Golden Globe Award and for an Academy Award for the song "May it be" and have also merited many other nominations and awards, including the Ivor Novello for International Achievement. The latest honours bestowed on Enya were two Honorary Degrees, the University of Galway honoured her with Doctor of Music and the University of Ulster honoured Enya with Doctor of Letters.

Is it possible that Noah's ark really existed? Find out more about Noah's ark and if a great flood was a reality.
One of the oldest stories in the world, the tale of Noah and his ark has crossed oceans and continents over millenniums. Versions float around in nearly every human culture, and Christianity, Islam and Judaism share the overarching plot points of a man, a flood and animals marching two by two. But for all of these similarities, whether the tale traces back to fact remains contentious among religious and scientific scholars alike.
I have been teaching English and Japanese in real life and on the net for over 18 years. My focus is on REAL spoken language — like that used in movie and TV scripts.
When it comes to English, I have taught, TOEFL, TOEIC, business English, beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I’ve taught classes on American Literature, cinema, and Star Wars. I’ve given lectures on movies, Peru, and the comic book hero. My specialty is phrases that appear in movies but are not taught in regular text books.
As a Japanese teacher I focus on helping starters get over humps and learn real Japanese expressions that are not taught in text book

Benjamin Chase "Ben" Harper (born October 28, 1969) is an American singer-songwriter musician and two-time Grammy Award winner, known for his guitar-playing skills, vocals, live performances and activism.
Harper was born in Claremont, in California's Inland Empire. His father, Leonard, was of African-American and Cherokee ancestry, and his mother, Ellen Chase-Verdries, is Jewish. His maternal great-grandmother immigrated from Lithuania. His parents divorced when he was five, and he grew up with his mother's family. Harper has two brothers, Joel and Peter.
Harper began playing guitar as a child. His maternal grandparents' music store The Folk Music Center and Museum laid a foundation of folk and blues for the artist, complemented by regular patrons Leonard Cohen, Taj Mahal and David Lindley and quotes of William Shakespeare and Robert Frost made often by his grandfather. During the '80s, in his teen years, Harper began to play the slide guitar, mimicking the style of Robert Johnson. Next, Harper refined his style, taking up the Weissenborn. Harper broke out of the Inland Empire after being offered an invitation by Taj Mahal to tour with the artist. The 20 year-old Harper and the blues legend then recorded Follow the Drinking Ghour(d) and toured Hawaii.

As a young man, Harper recorded the LP Pleasure and Pain with Folk multi-instrumentalist Tom Freund. After this limited edition record, Harper secured a record deal with Virgin Records, which released his debut album, Welcome to the Cruel World (1994).
This was followed by Fight For Your Mind (1995), which became a college radio favorite and generated an abundance of songs that still fill his set lists to date.
In 1999 at the Santa Barbara Bowl, Harper met Jack Johnson, who was unknown at the time and had not recorded. Harper obtained a demo tape of 12 of Johnson's songs that he forwarded to his producer, J.P. Plunier, with whom Johnson recorded his first album.

From early on in Harper's career, his music received more attention in Europe and was widely played in Australia (first aired on Triple J radio) giving massive exposure even more than it did in his home country. Harper has made comments on a number of occasions that his career was kicked off in Australia. While he was a well-known and respected figure in the United States (his musicianship put him on the lineup of featured singers covering Motown hits by Marvin Gaye on the classic 2002 documentary, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown," the story of the Funk Brothers) he was a star in countries like Australia, New Zealand, France, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, receiving a great deal of airplay and critical acclaim. His popularity in Europe is such that he was French Rolling Stone magazine's Artist of the Year (Artiste De L'Année) in 2003, and his tour that year for Diamonds on the Inside with the music video filmed in Australia and played to packed arenas across the continent.
In October 2004, Harper participated in the Vote for Change concert tour organized to benefit Moveon.org and encourage people in the swing states to vote during the 2004 U.S. presidential election. Also in October, Harper contributed a live recording of the song "Oppression" to For The Lady, a benefit album for jailed Nobel Peace Prize winner and Burmese pro-democracy advocate Aung San Suu Kyi.
Over the summer of 2005, when the Zooma tour scheduled with Trey Anastasio and various side stage performers was canceled, Harper engaged in a tour of more private clubs/venues such as the Avalon Ballroom in Boston, the Tabernacle in Atlanta, and a full-band acoustic performance at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. This series of concerts saw the debut of a number of new songs, such as "Get It Like You Like It" and "Why Must You Always Dress in Black."
In 2006, Harper released the double album Both Sides of the Gun which debuted at #7 on the Billboard charts.
Harper finished a worldwide tour in support of the album in 2006, with support from Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley on the North American leg.
Though uncredited, he appears briefly in the 2006 David Lynch film Inland Empire, alongside his wife Laura Dern.
Harper and the Innocent Criminals recorded a new album, Lifeline, in Paris. It was released in 2007. He also covered John Lennon's "Beautiful Boy" on the benefit CD Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur.
Harper's collaboration "Boa Sorte/Good Luck" with Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata peaked at #1 in Brazil and Portugal. In Brazil it also won a highly coveted Prêmio Multishow for "Best Song" in 2008.
Harper is part of the No Nukes group which is against the expansion of nuclear power. In 2007 the group recorded a music video of a new version of the Buffalo Springfield song "For What It's Worth".
Harper formed a new band in 2008, Relentless7, with Texas-based musicians Jason Mozersky (guitar), Jesse Ingalls (bass) and Jordan Richardson (drums). The album White Lies for Dark Times, credited to Ben Harper and Relentless7, was released on May 4, 2009. On July 12, 2009, the band performed the closing concert of the 30th Montreal International Jazz Fest.
On January 13, 2010, Harper and Relentless7 appeared on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart together with Ringo Starr to perform "Walk With You" and "With a Little Help from My Friends".
On January 22, 2010, Harper appeared on the last episode of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien with Beck and Billy Gibbons playing a Will Ferrell-led rendition of "Freebird".

Oracle (NSDQ:ORCL) is acquiring Phase Forward, a developer of applications for life sciences and pharmaceutical companies, for approximately $685 million.
The acquisition, which Oracle expects to complete by the middle of the year, continues the vendor's aggressive expansion into the market for healthcare and life sciences software.
Phase Forward, based in Waltham, Mass., develops software used by life sciences and pharmaceutical companies for managing clinical trials when testing new drugs and medical products. The company's software, including the on-demand Integrated Clinical Research Suite, helps capture data from drug trials and develops reports to meet drug safety and regulatory approval requirements.
While Oracle's recent $7.4 billion acquisition of Sun Microsystems has attracted the most attention, Oracle has been acquiring a number of developers of applications for vertical industries, especially for healthcare. Once the acquisition is complete Phase Forward will become part of the Oracle Health Sciences Global Business Unit.
Hardwar town is the gateway to the abode of Gods. The mythological and religious importance of Hardwar is well known. The 'Kumbh' and the 'Ardh Kumbh' fairs are held periodically, every twelveth and sixth year in Hardwar, when a large number of pilgrims and devotees converge to commemorate this divine event.
According to astrologers, the 'Kumbh Fair' takes place when the planet Jupiter enters Aquarius and the Sun enters Aries. According to mythology, 'Devas' (Gods) and 'Asuras' (Demons) churned the ocean to obtain Nectar and when the coveted 'Kumbha' (pitcher) of Nectar (Amrita) which gave immortality was obtained from the depths of ocean, one of the 'Devas' whisked away the 'Kumbha' from the 'Asuras' and evading from the 'Asuras', stopped at four places viz. Hardwar, Allahabad (Prayag), Nasik and Ujjain before he finally arrived into the safety of heaven. A few drops of Nectar are supposed to have spilled over on the water at these four places and sages, saints and pilgrims started periodically to flock to each of these 'Tirthas' to celebrate the divine event. In fact , it is a unique event that blends religious and social features alike.

A hand-held projector called Twinkle can now create virtual characters and objects that interact with the real world.
It projects animated graphics that respond to patterns, shapes or colors on a surface or 3D objects. It uses a camera to track relevant elements in the scene illuminated by the projector and an accelerometer ensures it can sense the projector's rapid motion and position.
How to make Sesame Oil Mee Sua with Hard Boiled Egg

so we just finished
prayers for the jade emperor's (tian gong) birthday. my mom was the one
doing the prayers, i just helped her prep some of the food and wave some
joss sticks around. and after all the prayers are done -- paper house
and paper gold burned, god munched down the spirit of the food offerings
-- whatever was placed on the altar can now be packed up, preferably in
our stomachs. so, i whipped together the mee sua and red-dyed hard
boiled egg into a delightfully satisfying late night snack. (emphasis on
snack. u'd want to increase the amount of mee sua if this is gonna be
your main meal.) ~serves 2.
heat the oil in a
saucepan. saute the garlic on medium low heat until just beginning to
add the fish balls and fry on high heat for about 1
minute. season with white pepper, soy sauce and rice wine; cook for
add the chicken stock and bring to boil.
to taste with salt and add the mee sua and lettuce leaves. cook for a
minute on medium heat, separating the mee sua with chopsticks.
from heat. divide the mee sua, fish balls, lettuce and soup between two
top each bowl with an egg each, some coriander leaves,
spring onion, fried garlic and white pepper.
sadly, my bowl of mee sua didn't actually have spring onions in it, but
it still tasted great. it'd be much better with it though.
i cooked this on a day when i'm a complete klutz and
so i made several mistakes while making this (like pouring in too much
milk and not turning off the heat before pouring the egg in). it still
tasted good, but i've made several adjustments that will definitely
taste much better.
dry the shrimps on paper towels. season it
with salt and plenty of white pepper.
wash the basil leaves and
then dry them on paper towels.
heat the oil with two tbsp of
butter in a sauce pan. saute for 2 minutes and then remove the shrimps.
the basil leaves and fry for a minute or so.
add the 1 tbsp of
leftover butter (so the butter wont burn) and the garlic and fry until
the garlic begins to brown.
pour in the evaporated milk and
bring it to boil, stirring constantly so it wont burn at the bottom.
in the curry powder and chili. stir to mix well. let it boil for 5
minutes. keep stirring!
add in the half-cooked shrimps and also
the mirin. cook for another 3 mintues.
remove the pot from heat.
add 2 tbsp of the butter milk sauce to the egg yolk and mix well.
gently drizzle the yolk mix into the pot of curry butter milk shrimps,
stirring the whole time.
plate it and garnish with spring onion
/ parsley / cilantro / fresh basil. serve with rice.
can make more sauce and add in some cooked pasta!
when the oil is hot, stir fry shiitake mushroom
slices for 5 minutes on medium heat.
seasoning to taste with
to prepare woodlands
melt the butter in a pot and sweat the onion
on medium heat until fragrant.
add the mushrooms, cumin, nutmeg
and bay leaf, seasoning with salt and pepper. stir fry for about 5
add the flour, stir to combine.
tequila and stock, bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
(or ladle, for a safer option) half the soup into a blender and process
until smooth (see notes for safe handling) .
return it to the
pot and stir in the cream and honey. bring to boil, season to taste.
it into four bowls (discard bay leaf) and top each bowl with mushroom
garnish. drizzle with garlic oil (or truffle oil, or a good EVOO), crack
some black pepper, and serve with a slice of toast. Serves 4-6.
salt the mushroom garnish, it'll draw out the moisture of the mushroom.
you can't find shimeji mushrooms, just use 100g fresh and 100g
rehydrated dry shiitake mushrooms. the dried shiitake has a more 'meaty'
(umami) taste than the fresh shiitake, and so does the shimeji
mushroom, hence the mix. although shiitake mushroom is of east asian
origins, commercial cultivation and its increasing popularity in western
cuisine has made this mushroom widely available. the dried shiitake can
be found at any chinese grocery store.
as a vegetarian
alternative, use vegetable broth to replace the chicken broth.
stock is also reccomended, but be careful if you use bottled dashi as
some dashi contains soy sauce, which turns the soup sour-ish when it
comes into contact with shiitake mushroom. to make bonito stock, bring 1
litre water to boil and add 40g bonito flakes. simmer for 5 minutes.
strain and reserve stock.
tequila is used to give it a woody
flavour. i used tequila gold (tequila joven) for this recipe, but
tequila reposada is preferred. you can cut down on the amount if your
tequila is more aged. don't use tequila blanco (it is not aged after
distillation or aged briefly in stainless steel) as it is the infused
flavour of the oak barrel that adds the "woodland" touch to this soup.
in the absence of tequila, it can be replaced with whiskey, or other
woody tasting liquor.
let the soup cool before processing in a
blender. the air pressure from the hot liquid will force the lid off and
spray hot soup all over you and your kitchen. alternatively, if time is
of the essence, process 2 ladles at a time, making sure to hold the lid
down and cover the steam hole with a thick wet cloth to prevent the
messy and dangerous aftermath. a handheld blender would save a lot of
this trouble. wish i have one...
